Weight Lose

Hi, I have a 2 year old border collie X Lab. He runs constantly all day (lives on 5 acres). Recently he seems to be loosing weight. He has been wormed, I feed him a combination of dry kibble, can dog food, raw meat, table scraps, vitamins - two meals per day. Is this correct and should I be feeding him more, this amount seemed ample. I have received comments on his lovely shiny coat. What can I give him to put on more weight. Thanks Annette
Excessive Licking

Hi, I thought I had sent this before so apologise if I have but cannot find the response. I have a 7 month old female Pomeranian X Chihuahua. She constantly wants to lick whenever she has contact with anyone holding or patting her. She will even instigate sitting on my lap but will want to lick. Does anyone know why she does this and how I can stop this annoying habit. thanks Annette
Fence Jumping

My 18 month Border Collie X Lab has started to jump our 1.5 metre fence. I had him desexed as I thought he may be roaming because of other dogs being on heat. This has not stopped him. Any suggestions. My daughter has recently brought a 11 week old Chihuahua X Pom. Our two dogs play wonderfully together and our Border Collie X is very gentle with our Chihuahua. I have noticed though that our new puppy has begun to eat her own poo, what is the reason for this, should I be concerned. thanks Annette
Bad Habits are becoming a list.

My lab x border collie is about to turn 1 year old. I have gone through some rough times with him and just when I thought he was settling down I am now wondering about some of his new behaviour. 1. We live on 5 acres and what we originally thought was our boy just exercising has become an annoying habit. When he sights a car, truck or sometimes pedestrian he will charge down to the fence line and run at full speed along the fence line as if he is racing the car, barking as he approaches the end, he is not aggressive.
Looking for Food

My 6 month old Borador (Border Collie X Lab) is responding reasonably well to training. When I am training I use the reward system however, I have found recently that my dog is biting (playfully) at my hand and I feel that this is because of the reward training. He knows that I keep food in my hand, so he looks for it. How can I stop this when I am not training. I find that he responds well to the reward system. It is during the normal day to day activities that he has begun snapping at my hand.
Tail Chaser

My Border Collie X Lab is approaching 5 months old and I have noticed lately that he regularily chases his tail and even attacks his hind legs and chomps on them. I have read that tail chasing is not good and if it continues I should consult my vet. However, it has not stated what causes this problem and how to fix it. Is my dog going insane?

Playmate or Not

I have a 12 week Border Collie x Labrador he chews everything in sight. We live on an acerage so he has a large space to investigate. When we are at work I give him all the toys, bones and activities that we have brought for him but he still thinks that everything else is more interesting e.g. garden lights, plants, pots etc. We have tried everything but nothing seems to work. Even when we are home and put him outside for a while on his own he will always find something to destroy. We cannot be with him every minute of the day. He seems to know that it is wrong when I catch him in action. Should we get him a play mate to help his bordom however, my husband thinks that it would mean double trouble. HELP PLEASE!!
