Digging

My four old mixed breed female is looking for work as an excavation specialist. My yard looks like a mine field. She doesn't bury anything, just digs holes. I live in florida and thought it might be related to keeping cool, but thats a guess. I have tried stones in the hole (she digs elsewhere), burying moth balls (she digs them up and sells them 2 for a quarter so she can buy food for energy to dig more holes), fussing at her, and trimming her nails short.
I know this is a common problem, but any help will be appreicated.
Thank you in advance.
Jerry B.

digging solution

Hi Jerry, the detailed answer to your question can be found in the e-course Positive Dog Training for Real Results and in The Positive Petzine Collection.

The short answer is to provide alternative outlets for all that energy. Training, exercise, toys and mental activity. You will find dozens of ideas on this site and in the e-course. I strongly recommend a sandpit for digging dogs. You can hide food or toys in the sand each morning to encourage digging there instead of anywhere else.
