Sad about doxie's increased aggression

Hi Aidan,
No question this time, just a blog. I just found out from the owner that filou has been growling and snapping at strangers. i don't know how long it's been going on, but between that and the resource guarding, i'm feeling sad. I feel like we both have failed in responsably raising him. He had virtually no socializing, it was so sporadic and even tho we have trainer to work with now, it seems like closing the door after the horse is gone.
i know more now than when we brought filou home at 8 weeks, so i know aggression can be quite common, and quite preventable. easier to prevent than correct. I'm sad and frustrated that the owner doesnt seem to think these are serious issues. and i think it's going be alot harder work to rehalbilitate him.
i have had a feeling for awhile that this would happen, just because of lack of consistent training and overpermissiveness, but i thought the owner would be a little more concerned.
Thanks for listening.

Aggression

Hi Jen, gosh, you're dealing with a load of fresh, steaming... err, "guilt" there!

This calls for a fresh, steaming new article (some might say "rant") about the nonsense that people come up with regarding aggressive dogs.

All that pain, guilt and disappointment you are feeling is absolutely pointless and based on myths and half-truths invented by people who pretend to know better in order to make themselves feel better.

BTW, aggression towards people is relatively easy to treat compared to aggression towards other dogs. The horse has definitely not bolted.

Regards,
Aidan
