Free dog toy idea

I have an old pair of worn-out hiking boots I had been leaving by the back door to do the gardening in. My dogs don't steal shoes, but one of these old boots had found it's way to the bottom of the stairs (via my daughter) - where in the dog's eyes it then became fair game.

One of my dogs doesn't like noisy toys so he's never been into buster cubes or old plastic milk bottles with food in them. While spreading a little dry food for a breakfast treasure hunt yesterday morning I decided to hide some of his food in this old boot.

Bingo! A food toy that my Goldie will use. A little too easy, but it kept him busy for a few minutes and I'm sure he appreciates these little things I do to occupy his time.

I'm sure this would be a bad idea for dogs who have learned to steal and chew shoes, but that is not a problem in my home. Nor are my dogs destructive so I'm not worried about them choking on the laces or anything else that might become dislodged. They'll just carry it around, then eventually it will get buried in the sand-pit or in the compost heap.
