Swine flu in dogs?

Hello, I'm not sure if this is something you know anything about or not but I was wondering if you knew anything about swine flu in dogs or even cats? If pigs and birds can pass it on to humans, what about dogs?

Hi, there is no evidence that dogs or cats can contract swine flu ( influenza A H1N1 ), or spread it around. However, the possibility that this could happen could not be ruled out. So at this stage, you have nothing to worry about so far as your pets are concerned.

Well, it would appear that H1N1 has mutated and there are reported cases of "swine flu" in dogs now:

While dogs may very rarely contract swine flu from their owners they do not appear to then infect others. It only makes sense to keep any dog with respiratory signs away from other dogs. You must go to some trouble to test the ill dog to confirm H1N1. Results are not available immediately, and in some cases testing early yields negative results. In the US (elsewhere) there are sporadic outbreaks of dog flu, a relatively new virus that jumped from horses to dogs about 5 years ago. This is a potentially more serious disease for the dog. Testing again may be required early and then two weeks later to confirm presence of this virus, One thing is for sure-your healthy dog is not a threat to you.
