Barking

Zeek doesn't like other dogs...

Hello.. I have a 11mo old German Shepherd he has been through basic 1 training and did pretty good .. we got him at 3mos and he was, and still is very nippy, and everytime he sees another dog (big or little) he goes crazy and wants to attack them, not sure why. we can't even take him to the dog park anymore because of this. When we are on a walk I have to stop and restrain him while other people walk by with there dog. he will even try to bite me to get to them...not sure what to do ...Bark Busters is to expensive right now.. and I'm afaid to go to a class with other dogs.. any suggestions...

Hey everyone,

Problem barker

I have a 1 1/2 yr old male Border Collie named Justice and it was just brought to my attention by the local police department that my dog barks all the time when I am not at home. Apparently one of the neighbors contacted the police instead of letting me know about the situation. I have tried my best to keep him quiet throughout the day, he would only bark when someone came to the house. Now I am afraid to leave the house because if I don't keep my dog quiet and the police have to come out to my house I can get a citation.

Barking at hot air balloons

in

I have a nine year old Rhodesian Ridgeback who likes to bark at hot air balloons. My house is directly under the flight path and he can hear them coming from miles away and can watch them almost down to the ground when they land because we are at the top of the hill. They usually go over between 6.00 and 7.30am and he barks continuously while they go over. Sometimes there can be 3 or 4 go over in a morning. My neighbours are good about it, but tolerance has its limits. It is especially bad on the weekend when everyone is wanting to sleep in.

5 Month Old Yorkie Pooh

Hi Everyone!
Boy do I need some help with Lucy. She doesn't tell us when she has got to go potty. She pees and poopies in the house. When we try to pick her up to take her to her poop box she runs away from us; Lucy thinks it's all a game. (Ha Ha try to catch me to go P!). It's quite a work out just trying to catch her.
Lucy loves to play, but she will bark and bark until we play with her. She loves to play fetch. Any ideas with Lucy she is such a handful and she still likes to nip when she is playing.

Thank you all.

Deaf Dog's Behavioural Problems

in

Can anyone help me with my 12yr old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel?
Since my Rottie died 13mths ago I have been having trouble with Jasper. We have always been close ( from the moment I rescued him at age 7 when he was already deaf) but now I cann't leave him at home, either alone or with my partner. He cries & barks all the time. I don't give him a lot of attention but he is in the house and around me a lot.

If I take him with me in the car I can leave him for hours. He will either sleep or look out of the window quite happily, but at home he cries.

Miracles happen here!

I have been receiving the Barking Dog e-course. I cannot begin to tell you the turn around in my dog. He's a 6 year old GSD and when visitors used to come to the door he would jump at the door, bark ferociously and make a complete nuisance of himself. We would have to put him into another room to let people into the house. After following suggestions in the e-course, and with the help of some very brave friends, he now sits well away from the door and perfectly still, he makes no sound at all and he keeps his eyes on me all the time. He barks once or twice as someone knocks on the door, but knows that is enough and he'll get hot-dog treats if he behaves. What a transformation! Thank you soooo much Aidan.

My Mission Possible

in

I almost called it "My Mission Impossible" but I want to be positive and not think that it is impossible. I have a sheltie that will not only bark when other dogs are doing agility in person but also when they are on TV. I think that she is reacting to barking, motion and seeing another dog. She was a singleton though I did try hard to socialize her. After reading about Song and the Sheep I started thinking about how I could use the fact that she reacts to agility on TV as well as in person. Working on this problem in the home would be a great first step as I am not sure about how other competitors would feel if I sat in a chair reading a book while she barked continuously at an agility competition. Though she is barking while in her crate even when she cannot see the ring.
